Open Seminar #1A: Gotoogi Takedowns with Kuksanim (Open to All Students and public)

Description: In this session Grandmaster Taejoon Lee (Kuksanim) will focus on takedowns which are most applicable to Gotoogi, Submission Grappling. There are two main factors in applying takedowns for Gotoogi (1) how quickly can some one learn it (2) avoid leaving yourself vulnerable if the takedown fails. Many of the throws and takedown which exposes the back such as hip or shoulder throws are often difficult to master and will leave you in a critical situation if you fail to complete the throw. Kuksanim will show you some easy to learn takedowns with minimal danger to you if you fail in the attempt. This is a must for all submission grapplers, but also to beginner Tae Soo Do students as an introduction to inevitable standup / submission grappling which will begin at TSD Green Belt Level.

Open Seminar #1B: Sparring Takedowns with Kuksanim (Open to All Students and public)
Date: July 1, Saturday
Time: 13:00 to 14:30
Location: Hall Sportif Tramsschapp
Description: In this session Grandmaster Taejoon Lee (Kuksanim) will teach the most effective takedowns for sparring for both TSD Sparring Applications as well as HRD Yongtoogi Applications. Not only will he address takedowns from in-close clinch position, but will also show how to defend, catch, and trap the leg of a kick attack and use that as a means for a takedown. Takedowns in sparring are seldom used yet it is the most dynamic and explosive aspect of standup fighting, allowing you to gain maximum points to secure a victory.

Open Seminar #1C: Gumtoogi - Um Elements of Sword Fighting Movements (Open to All Students and public)
Date: July 1, Saturday
Time: 15:00 to 16:30
Location: Hall Sportif Tramsschapp
Description: In this session Grandmaster Taejoon Lee (Kuksanim) will show and teach the Um (Soft/Circular) Movements of Hwa Rang Do's Unique Sword Fighting Applications. Preferably having the armor, Janggum (long bamboo sword) and Ssanggum (twin bamboo swords) is recommended. However, it is open to all students in all levels and don't need the full armor to participate. All you need is the long bamboo sword. If you do not have the twin swords, don't worry as you will then only work on the janggum movements. Also, children who have foam swords can also participate. Kuksanim will divide the class and teach accordingly to each level and type of weapons.
